Recap from Lee:
This took place on 9/9/99, which is awesome. Bam Bam gets the jump to begin. Downs Goldberg with a scoop slam, Bill dodges a headbutt and slams Bam Bam himself. The big man exits the ring. He stays outside for sometime. He comes back in and gets knee’d a few times. He tries to comeback with a crossbody but Goldberg catches him and slams him. Goldberg locks in an armbar but Bam Bam makes it to the ropes. Bam Bam looks like he’s about to make a comeback but it doesn’t happen because GOLDBERG. Ref bump. Bam Bam gets levelled with a rebound clothesline, then punched on the mat. The crowd keep counting the punches even after Goldberg stops, so he does some more. Back on his feet, Bam Bam gets some punches in the corner. Goldberg tires of selling then beats him up some more. Superkick from Goldberg! DDP interferes and they double team him. Goldberg spears Bam Bam which makes DDP realise interfering was a bad idea, then JACKHAMMER! ONE! TWO! THREE! DDP attacks Bill with a chair afterwards, the crowd are not pleased and throw trash at him. Goldberg looks pissed when he gets back up and shouts threatening things to hype the pay per view match.
Lee’s thoughts: Goldberg squash matches are the best. He was my childhood hero, so it’s no surprise that I still enjoy watching him a lot. If you want some nostalgia for an awesome run from one of the biggest stars of a great period in wrestling, check this out. I will say though, don’t expect to see Bam Bam showcased at all, as he pretty much got destroyed here. He was great in ECW, but I don’t recall seeing him do a whole lot after jumping ship to WCW.
