Recap from TJ Hawke:

This was a part of the Rey de Voladores tournament that happens within the King of Trios tournament weekend.  I believe that this match is considered by some as the best match in Chikara History

Jigsaw and Ibushi started the match.  Ibushi sent him to the floor with a spinning heel kick.  Generico came in and sent Ibushi to the floor with a leg lariat.  Nick came in and hit the sky twister corkscrew armdrag to send Generico to the floor.  Generico and Nick Jackson (who had teamed up on Night 1 of this tournament) teamed up in the match to get the advantage on the other two.  Eventually the two came to blows, and Generico hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker.  Generico went to the top rope, but Ibushi hit a cartwheel Pele kick.  Jigsaw wiped out Generico with a suicide dive.  Ibushi then hit his great moonsault to the floor on Nick.  Jigsaw got a nearfall on Generico with a Rack Bomb.  Ibushi hit Jigsaw with a springboard dropkick.  Nick Jackson hit the slingshot X-Factor on Ibushi, the apron moonsault on Generico and Jigsaw and then hit a 450 Splash on Ibushi: 1…2…Generico inexplicably makes the save.  Generico lowbridged Nick to the floor and hit a Fosbury Flop.  He then hit his dive through the ropes swinging DDT to Jigsaw.  In the ring, Generico hit Ibushi with a half-nelson suplex: 1…2…NO! Generico and Ibushi struck it out until Ibushi hit a bridging German suplex: 1…2…NO! Ibushi then hit his double jump moonsault: 1…2…NO!  Ibushi went to the top rope, but Generico met him up there and tried for the turnbuckle brainbuster.  Ibushi escaped and hit a super reverse hurricanarana: 1…2…3!!! AHHHH! Nick sent Ibushi to the floor, but then Jigsaw hit Nick with a Jig ‘n’ Tonic: 1…2…3!  Ibushi went to the top rope, but Jigsaw gave him a superkick and a draping DDT: 1…2…NO! Ibushi came back with a snap German suplex and a bridging half-nelson suplex: 1…2…NO!  Ibushi then killed him with a Phoenix Splash: 1…2…3!

For a promotion that specializes in fun, this match may be the most fun of them all (I’m sure some Chikara fans would disagree, but I can’t hide my love of this match).  The match had a very PWG feel, with all four guys busting out every move they can, while the crowd goes nuts for everything.  My one complaint for this match has always been is that nothing after the Generico elimination could live up to the awesomess that was Generico and Ibushi going at it, one on one.  That is a minor nitpick though for what was a great match.  This is a must-see match, especially if you have never seen Chikara or Kota Ibushi.  Get on it.

Match Rating: ***3/4

Thoughts from Chris GST:

Fun match for all four. I somewhat remembered this from 3 years ago. Ibushi showing his true innovations in the ring and the top rope reverse Rana was just crazy. With my penchant for elimination multiman matches this really fed that need and the closing sequence is just crazy. A must watch and truly shows that even past CHIKARA DVDs are worth buying today.

Thoughts from Lee Goodfellow:

Ibushi and Generico are amazing. The stretch that culminated in the generic luchador’s elimination was the clear highlight of the match. Awesome, dramatic action. The rest of it was very fast paced and entertaining too. This is the kind of match you show your friends who don’t understand why you watch wrestling.

Rating: ***3/4

About TJ Hawke

TJ was a fan of wrestling as a kid (starting around 1999), and his first concrete wrestling memory is some kid bringing Hulk Hogan his old yellow and red gear backstage during an episode of Nitro. Hogan needed the gear to defeat Kevin Nash in a title vs. career match at the next WCW PPV. Nash lost the match and his career, which sadly resulted in the world losing out on seeing Kevin Nash matches for the last 13 years. Like almost all young kids, TJ’s interest in wrestling fluctuated over the years until an episode of Raw on July 3, 2006. TJ was curious and excited to see his beloved RVD show up with the WWE Title belt and what he thought was the revitalized European title. TJ decided he must turn to the the internet to figure out what was going on. Almost 6 years later, TJ is still searching the internet every day to find out what is going on in wrestling. Now though, he writes for the pop culture site (411mania.com), has his own blog (The Best of Chikara), and is the creator of the very site you are reading now.
