Recap from Jesse Nyugen:

Green Ant starts the match with three drop kicks leading to a quick near fall. Pinkie takes advantage with a polish hammer, and both end up on the apron. Green Ant with a lariat to the inside, followed by a sunset flip, but it is reversed by Pinkie, who kicks the Ant right in the chest. Pinkie charges but Ant holds the rope down. Green Ant goes to the stop and hits a splash to the outside! Back into the ring, Pinkie rakes the eyes and hits a unique dragon screw to get the upper hand. Pinkie uses a arm breaker, followed quickly with a kick to the same limb. The competitors trade strikes, Pinkie finally getting the better of the Ant with a body slam and knee drop to the skull. Pinkie stays on top of him, delivering some punishment with strikes. Green Ant finally has enough and hulks up, showing the strength of his headbutts! Pinkie with another attack to the eyes and a hard kick, sending Ant to the floor. Fighting on the floor leads them back to the ring, where Pinkie has Ant on the top rope. Ant fights him off and flies with a torpedo headbutt! Ant waits for him and springboards with another flying headbutt! 1…2…no! Green Ant locks in the cloverleaf! Pinkie makes it to the ropes in pain. Switching holds lead to a sick head kick from Pinkie! Ant staggers but recovers enough to deliver a wrist-clutch body to back slam! Splash from the top gets Ant a cover! 1…2…Pinkie kicks out again! Pinkie elbows out of a hold and goes for the burning powerbomb! Burning Snickelfritz! Pinkie gets the win!

A good match from the two younger guys. Crowd got into the match when the strikes were traded back and forth. Competitive match that was a little too all over the place. Too much time was spent going outside the ring, which did not lead to much, besides Green Ant’s one flying splash. This was a good start to the BDK/Chikara feud that would continue during the year.

Match Rating: **

Thoughts from TJ Hawke:

This is a very heated matchup, because Pinkie infiltrated the Colony in 2009 as Carpenter Ant, only to reveal himself as a member of the BDK.  Green Ant quickly hits a pair of dropkicks.  Green Ant hit a series of body slams for a nearfall.  Pinkie cut him off with a polish hammer to the throat.  Green Ant came back with a diving plancha to the floor.  Green Ant then hit some stiff knife-edge chops on the floor.  Back in the ring, Pinkie hit a Dragon Screw Legwhip variation.  Pinkie then went to work on Green Ant’s left arm.  Out of nowhere, Green Ant got an ankle lock, but Pinkie was able to make the ropes.  Green Ant came back with a big boot, but Pinkie cut him off by kicking out his legs.  They started trading some forearms and chops.  Pinkie blocked a chop, slammed Green Ant to the floor, and hit a jumping knee strike.  Pinkie hit a Butt Stomp: 1…2…NO!  Pinkie headbutted him, but Green Ant Hulked up and hit a series of headbutts.  Pinkie poked him in the eyes and then dropkicked him to the floor.  Pinkie slammed him into the apron and then rolled him back in the ring.  Green Ant came back with a headbutt and then a diving headbutt from the middle rope.  Green Ant then hit a springboard headbutt: 1…2…NO! Green Ant went for a Clover Leaf, but Pinkie made the ropes.  Green Ant Cloverleaf bombed him and then locked in the Cloverleaf submission.  Pinkie just made the ropes.  Green Ant hit two big slaps and Pinkie killed him with a high kick to the head.  Green Ant came back with a Wrist-Clutch Drunk Slam.  Green Ant then hit a top rope splash: 1…2…NO!!!  Pinkie came back with a spinning heel and then a Burning Hammer: 1…2…3!!!

I liked this match a lot.  They showed a lot of fire, and they really set the tone for the Chikara vs. BDK battle that raged on (and then ended with a whimper) for two years.  Green Ant looked good here, but I cannot overstate how much better he has gotten since this show.

Match Rating: ***1/4

About Jesse Nguyen

Jesse has been watching wrestling since the mid-ninetys. His first real favorite was Chris Jericho back in the WCW Cruiserweight days. Since then he has followed the sport of professional wrestling quite closely. It wasn't until 2004 that he started to learn of the indy scene, thanks to Paul London vs. Bryan Danielson at ROH's Epic Encounter. Nowadays, he greatly enjoys Beyond, Chikara, and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, but is happy to watch any brand of wrestling. He has also wrestled for a now defunct local promotion. His record is one win, one loss.
