Recap from TJ Hawke:
Naito and Tanahashi started the match. Not much of significance happened. Davey and Taguchi tagged in. Yujiro tagged in and worked over Taguchi for a bit. Apollo 55 managed to isolate Yujiro, and he got his arm wrung several dozen times (slight exaggeration). Apollo 55 sent No Limit to the floor. They did a feint dive and then posed. They are awesome. Davey attacked them from behind. Davey dropped Devitt on a barricade. No Limit and Davey worked over Devitt for a good while. Taguchi managed to tag in, and he made a big comeback. He hit Davey with the three amigos: 1…2…NO! Davey came back with a handspring enzuigiri. Taguchi hit Naito with a springboard back elbow. Tanahashi tagged in an ran through everyone. Because he is Tanahashi. Naito came back on Tanahashi with an elevated neckbreaker and a missile dropkick. Tanahashi came back with a Dragon Sleeper. Davey made the save. Yujiro got a nearfall on Tanahashi with a lariat. Tanahashi came back with a dragon screw legwhip. Apollo 55 hit Yujiro with a kick combo. Yujiro then hit Tanahashi with a brainbuster. Tanahashi came back with a Jeff Hardy lariat. Tanahashi then hit the Frog Splash: 1…2…3!
Davey and Devitt got into a brawl after the match. Davey was challenging Devitt for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship soon, so I guess that’s where the tension was coming from.
This match was actually a lot of fun. Most small NJPW house show matches leave me unsatisfied, but everyone put in a good effort to make up for the lack of atmosphere.
