Recap from TJ Hawke:

Cage got a Muta Lock early.  Cage was in full Wolverine gear by the way.  Tozawa made the ropes.  Tozawa hit a brogue kick that sent Cage to the floor.  Cage ran away before Tozawa could hit his tope suicida.  Cage rolled back into the ring, and Tozawa quickly got control of the match.  Cage eventually hit a neckbreaker to get back in the match.  Cage hit a delayed vertical suplex, and now, he was in control of the match.  Tozawa went for a slingshot move, but Cage caught him with a bridging Northern Nights Suplex: 1…2…NO! That was very cool.   Cage remained in control until Tozawa reversed a Gory Special into a sunset flip pin for a nearfall.  Tozawa sent him to the floor and hit two tope suicidas in a row.  This crowd had clearly never seen Tozawa before, because they were overly impressed with these suicide dives.  Back in the ring, Tozawa hit a saito suplex for a nearfall. Cage came back with an exploder suplex and a lionsault: 1…2…NO! Cage went to the top rope, but Tozawa managed to hit a superplex for a nearfall.  Tozawa killed him with a German, but Cage then killed him with a discus lariat.  They got to their feet and traded some big strikes.  Tozawa hit two Brogue Kicks and a bridging German for a nearfall. Cage came back with a Torture Rack Driver for a nearfall.  Cage hit a powerbomb, but Tozawa kicked out at one.  Cage then hit a huge lariat and then the Gory Bomb reverse STO: 1…2…3!

I was a little worried that the weak crowd would hold this match back from reaching its potential, but that fear didn’t end up being realized.  These two put on a really entertaining match that managed to get what few people were there really invested.  I really enjoyed this match, and I definitely recommend watching it.

Match Rating: ***1/2

About TJ Hawke

TJ was a fan of wrestling as a kid (starting around 1999), and his first concrete wrestling memory is some kid bringing Hulk Hogan his old yellow and red gear backstage during an episode of Nitro. Hogan needed the gear to defeat Kevin Nash in a title vs. career match at the next WCW PPV. Nash lost the match and his career, which sadly resulted in the world losing out on seeing Kevin Nash matches for the last 13 years. Like almost all young kids, TJ’s interest in wrestling fluctuated over the years until an episode of Raw on July 3, 2006. TJ was curious and excited to see his beloved RVD show up with the WWE Title belt and what he thought was the revitalized European title. TJ decided he must turn to the the internet to figure out what was going on. Almost 6 years later, TJ is still searching the internet every day to find out what is going on in wrestling. Now though, he writes for the pop culture site (411mania.com), has his own blog (The Best of Chikara), and is the creator of the very site you are reading now.
