Recap from TJ Hawke:

Davey was ROH World Champ at the time of this match.  Big match feel in the crowd.  They traded holds to start.  The commentators really tried to get Gallagher and the promotion over by Gallagher being able to keep up with Davey.  Gallagher hit a dropkick and Davey went to the floor to rest.  Davey got back in the ring and managed to cut Gallagher off briefly.  They traded some strikes. Davey won that exchange with a sole butt.  Davey went for a diving headbutt, but Gallagher avoided it and made a comeback.  Gallagher got a cross armbreaker, but Davey immediately got in the ropes to break the hold.  Gallagher hit a butterfly suplex for a nearfall.  Gallagher then hit a diving headbutt: 1…2…NO!  Gallagher locked in the cross armbreaker again, but Davey escaped and got the ankle lock.  Gallagher made the ropes.  Davey hit a dragon srew legwhip in the ropes.  Davey followed that with a missile dropkick: 1…2…NO! Ankle lock from Davey.  Gallagher reversed that into a pinning combination for a nearfall.  Lariat from Davey.  Bridging German suplex: 1….2…NO! Kimura from Gallagher!  Davey reversed it into an ankle lock.  Gallagher rolled through, but Davey immediately hit a running soccer kick.  Brainbuster from Davey: 1…2…NO!  Davey then hit a Buzzsaw kick for another nearfall.  Davey then hit a sliding buzzsaw kick: 1…2…3!

This may surprise you, but Davey cut a promo putting over his opponent after the match.  Davey asked for a rematch.

Heck of a match here.  Davey had a string of good matches on the undercards of lower profile shows, and this match was no exception.  I went into the match not knowing anything about Jack Gallagher, but I’m definitely interested in seeing more of him going forward.  Also, I enjoyed the environment and the enthusiasm of the commentators, so FSW made a good first impression on me all around.

Match Rating: ***1/2

About TJ Hawke

TJ was a fan of wrestling as a kid (starting around 1999), and his first concrete wrestling memory is some kid bringing Hulk Hogan his old yellow and red gear backstage during an episode of Nitro. Hogan needed the gear to defeat Kevin Nash in a title vs. career match at the next WCW PPV. Nash lost the match and his career, which sadly resulted in the world losing out on seeing Kevin Nash matches for the last 13 years. Like almost all young kids, TJ’s interest in wrestling fluctuated over the years until an episode of Raw on July 3, 2006. TJ was curious and excited to see his beloved RVD show up with the WWE Title belt and what he thought was the revitalized European title. TJ decided he must turn to the the internet to figure out what was going on. Almost 6 years later, TJ is still searching the internet every day to find out what is going on in wrestling. Now though, he writes for the pop culture site (411mania.com), has his own blog (The Best of Chikara), and is the creator of the very site you are reading now.
