Recap from TJ Hawke:

There were some pre-match shenanigans that I didn’t really understand.  Ok, I think Nigel’s partner is a rudo, but Nigel isn’t being one.  Rayne wants to kill Christmas or something, but Nigel lets one of the tecnicos put a Santa Claus beard on him before the match.  Rayne does not approve.  Nigel and Bailey started the match.  They traded holds.  It was awesome.  I miss Nigel.  Bailey tagged out to Manson. Nigel seemed very nervous, as Mad Man Manson obviously looks like a mad man.  Nigel locked in an arm wringer though, and Manson was helpless.  Nigel did his headstand in the corner.  Manson then tried to copy him, but he didn’t do it quite as successfully.  Rayne ran in to yell at Nigel, but that just resulted in him being hit by everyone (including Nigel) with headstand kicks out of the corner.  It was awesome.  Rayne tagged himself in to the delight of no one.  Rayne and Nigel started to work over Bailey for a bit.  Rayne and Manson tagged in, and Rayne was able to get the advantage.  Rayne went to the top rope, but Nigel listened to the crowd and crotched him.  Bailey hit Rayne with a shotgun knees.  The crowd called for Nigel to give him a Tower of London, and Nigel did just that to his partner.  Manson pinned him: 1…2…3!

While a super competitive “ROH Style” match from Nigel is always great, this match really showed his talent for his comedic timing.  Nigel was one of the most entertaining wrestlers in all of the world for a few years, and I truly miss watching him.  I hadn’t seen any of the other guys before, but they were all very over with the crowd, so they obviously contributed to the fun as well.  The only negative of the match was when Nigel and Rayne worked over Bailey, as the crowd was not interested in seeing Nigel being a rudo or working with Rayne.

Match Rating: **3/4

About TJ Hawke

TJ was a fan of wrestling as a kid (starting around 1999), and his first concrete wrestling memory is some kid bringing Hulk Hogan his old yellow and red gear backstage during an episode of Nitro. Hogan needed the gear to defeat Kevin Nash in a title vs. career match at the next WCW PPV. Nash lost the match and his career, which sadly resulted in the world losing out on seeing Kevin Nash matches for the last 13 years. Like almost all young kids, TJ’s interest in wrestling fluctuated over the years until an episode of Raw on July 3, 2006. TJ was curious and excited to see his beloved RVD show up with the WWE Title belt and what he thought was the revitalized European title. TJ decided he must turn to the the internet to figure out what was going on. Almost 6 years later, TJ is still searching the internet every day to find out what is going on in wrestling. Now though, he writes for the pop culture site (411mania.com), has his own blog (The Best of Chikara), and is the creator of the very site you are reading now.
