Adam Cole vs. Adam Pearce from NWA Ring Warriors 2012

Recap from TJ Hawke:

This match happened during the 2012 Wrestlemania weekend. The gimmick was that Jim Cornette was bringing in someone from ROH to challenge Pearce for the NWA Heavyweight Championship.

Jim Cornette announced that Cole would be the opponent.  Cornette and Cole shook hands.  Cole was mostly running through Pearce until the NWA Champ caught him with a chokeslam.  Pearce worked him over for a while after that.  Pearce went to the top rope at one point, and Cole managed to crotch him. Cole then hit a superplex.  Cole made a comeback.  Pearce came back with a Made in Japan: 1…2…NO!  Cole came with a diving leg lariat: 1…2…NO!  Cole went for the diving crossbody, but Pearce avoided it. Cole got a small package: 1…2…NO! Pearce came back with a lariat.  Cole hit a diving crossbody, but Pearce rolled through: 1…2…NO! Pearce argued with the ref. Cole hit a superkick: 1…2…NO! Cole called for the Florida Key, but Pearce low blowed him. Pearce then hit the piledriver: 1…2…3.

The next night, at a ROH show, Cole would get his win back in an impromptu match.

This match was solid, and it was on its way to being quite good. However, the lame ending definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. Clean finishes everybody. There needs to be a really good reason not to have one.

Match Rating: **3/4

About TJ Hawke

TJ was a fan of wrestling as a kid (starting around 1999), and his first concrete wrestling memory is some kid bringing Hulk Hogan his old yellow and red gear backstage during an episode of Nitro. Hogan needed the gear to defeat Kevin Nash in a title vs. career match at the next WCW PPV. Nash lost the match and his career, which sadly resulted in the world losing out on seeing Kevin Nash matches for the last 13 years. Like almost all young kids, TJ’s interest in wrestling fluctuated over the years until an episode of Raw on July 3, 2006. TJ was curious and excited to see his beloved RVD show up with the WWE Title belt and what he thought was the revitalized European title. TJ decided he must turn to the the internet to figure out what was going on. Almost 6 years later, TJ is still searching the internet every day to find out what is going on in wrestling. Now though, he writes for the pop culture site (411mania.com), has his own blog (The Best of Chikara), and is the creator of the very site you are reading now.
