Recap from TJ Hawke:
Kings looks like Eddie Kingston, but without the “it factor,” if you will allow me to be cliche. Eddie was in control at the start of the match. Kings hit a throat thrust to cut off King. They ended up on their knees trading strikes. They then went to the floor, with Kings still mostly in control. Back in the ring, Kingston came back with a gamengiri, impaler DDT, and a tope suicida. Kingston then hit a weak Yakuza and an exploder suplex for a nearfall. Kings came back with a backstabber: 1…2…NO! Kings then hit a pair of back suplexes: 1…2…NO! Eddie came back with a Rock Bottom and a Sliding D: 1…2…NO! The crowd called for the Backfist to the Future. Kings hit a Brogue Kick and a gutbuster: 1…2…NO! Ref bump. Eddie came back with the Backfist to the Future, which got him a phantom pinfall. Kings then hit a low blow and a rolling forearm: 1…2…3. Lame finish.
This match wasn’t anything special. Alpha-1 has got some talented guys on their roster for sure, but I don’t get the impression (based on this match) that Joey Kings is one of their better performers.
