Recap from TJ Hawke:
Reynolds did not get much of a reaction coming out. Someone in the crowd was comparing him to Johnny Nitro though. I guess it was the sunglasses. More people at least knew who Fox was.
More people were chanting “Johnny Nitro” at Reynolds. It made less sense now, because he was no longer wearing sunglasses. Fox hit a Japanese armdrag and a leg lariat. Fox then hit a split-legged moonsault for a very early nearfall. Fox had to skin the cat at one point, but Reynolds just dropkicked him to the floor. Reynolds refused to do an outside dive. Rudo. Fox sent him to the floor, and he then hit a dive. Tecnico. Fox followed that with the kick-flip moonsault. Back in the ring, Reynolds cut Fox off with a gutbuster. Reynolds started to get the heat. Fox came back with a springboard dropkick and the My Dick Explodes. Shooting star cannonball from Fox: 1…2…NO! Reynolds blocked a Sliced Bread #2 attempt and hit a double stomp variation. Fox hit a rolling DVD and a senton atomico: 1…2…NO! Fox hit an enzuigiri, but he came up empty on a springboard 450. Reynolds then hit a 2K1 Stunner: 1…2…3. Fox took that stunner like Rock would take a Stone Cold Stunner.
This was pretty tame by AR Fox standards, but since it was the iPPV opener, that is not necessarily a bad thing. Fox is one of my favorite wrestlers, so PWS certainly gets more of my attention the more they use him. I think Reynolds would be better served by being in a tag team at the moment.
Match Rating: **3/4
