All posts featuring matches from The Underground will be dated to the day they were released.
The Underground is a web-show that exists in the same universe as the Wrestling Retribution Project.
Recap from TJ Hawke:
Hayashi took him down with an armdrag. And another. Nick Jackson (later revealed to be named Stone) was seen in the crowd, and the commentator said that PW3 would not like seeing that face. Hayashi hit a corkscrew kick that sent PW3 to the floor. Hayashi went for a suicide dive, but PW3 blocked it with an elbow. PW3 hit a missile dropkick. PW3 started to work over Hayashi. PW3 got distracted trying to impress his “main squeeze,” which allowed Hayashi to connect with a series of kicks. Hayashi went for a double jump Lionsault, but he completely missed. PW3 then hit a Buckle Bomb and a nice superkick: 1…2…3
It’s nearly impossible to judge this match to me, because the presentation made everything seem so manufactured. The background music, the commentary, the acting from the non-wrestlers, the movements of the “crowd,” etc, etc all seemed designed and fake (It’s possible that the crowd reactions were genuine, but they were edited in a way that made the crowd seem like a WWE video game crowd). I didn’t like anything that happened in this video, but I guess they get points for doing something different. Hopefully, the other seven episodes go better. Based on the promos cut at the end by the rest of the roster, I wouldn’t count on it though. I don’t know who Hayashi is, but he seemed talented. Matt Jackson did fine, and they seem to be setting up a matchup with his brother, which is definitely intriguing on paper.
