Recap from TJ Hawke:

Cole did not have his ROH TV Title with him, despite being announced and billed as the champion.  Cole also appeared to not be Evil Adam Cole, which is most definitely a shame.  This is the first Bandido match that I have ever seen.

They did a bunch of sequences early on to show everyone that they were close in terms of ability.  Bandido managed to send Cole to the floor. He went for a tope suicida, but Cole blocked him mid-dive with a leaping enzuigiri.  Cole worked Bandido over after that.  Bandido eventually came back with a springboard back press and a corkscrew plancha. Back in the ring, Bandido got a nearfall with a diving cross-body. Neither man got a firm advantage after that for a while.  Eventually, Cole hit a Matt Cross neckbreaker for a nearfall.  They each hit a superkick, Cole hit the brainbuster on his thigh: 1…2…NO!  Cole then locked in the Figure Four.  Worst tecnico submission.  Bandido made it to the ropes.  Bandido hit another superkick: 1…2…NO!  Bandido then hit Made in Japan: 1…2…NO!  Cole played possum after that and caught Bandido with a superkick to the knee. Panama’s Sunrise: 1…2…NO!!! What?  Cole went for a super Canadian Destroyer  but Bandido reversed it into a top rope draping DDT: 1…2…3!

Some guy told Bandido that he would be taking on Michael Elgin at the next CTWE show.

This match was a lot of fun.  They worked their asses off and delivered a very satisfying semi-main event.  Cole is definitely someone that should be brought in everywhere and anywhere right now.  Bandido made a hell of an impression on me with this match, and I definitely want to watch more of his stuff.

Match Rating: ***1/2

About TJ Hawke

TJ was a fan of wrestling as a kid (starting around 1999), and his first concrete wrestling memory is some kid bringing Hulk Hogan his old yellow and red gear backstage during an episode of Nitro. Hogan needed the gear to defeat Kevin Nash in a title vs. career match at the next WCW PPV. Nash lost the match and his career, which sadly resulted in the world losing out on seeing Kevin Nash matches for the last 13 years. Like almost all young kids, TJ’s interest in wrestling fluctuated over the years until an episode of Raw on July 3, 2006. TJ was curious and excited to see his beloved RVD show up with the WWE Title belt and what he thought was the revitalized European title. TJ decided he must turn to the the internet to figure out what was going on. Almost 6 years later, TJ is still searching the internet every day to find out what is going on in wrestling. Now though, he writes for the pop culture site (411mania.com), has his own blog (The Best of Chikara), and is the creator of the very site you are reading now.
